Thick skinned ‘Rhino’ 18GHz low loss cable is crush and weather-resistant

Suitable for the harshest environments

The lowest loss 18GHz cable available, the Lab-Flex® 380 Rhino from Florida RF Labs, a Smiths Interconnect company, features internal armour to weather the harshest environments. A black carbon FEP jacket provides superior UV protection, while at the same time affording a tough, abrasion resistant surface that prevents dirt, water and other contaminants from penetrating the armour.

Stainless steel connectors ensure corrosion-proof, weather-resistant mating in high reliability applications such as field test installations and antenna systems. The cables are available in phase matched sets and in lengths from 3 to 60 meters (10 to 200 feet).

For 18GHz at 400W power, loss comes in at 6.6dB per 10 meters (20.0dB per 100ft), while for 1GHz at 1940W, loss is 1.4dB per 10 meters (4.3dB per 100 feet). In addition, the new Rhino cable offers lighter weight and smaller diameter than its predecessor the armoured Lab-Flex® 290.

The Lab-Flex® family uses high velocity, low loss tape-wrapped dielectrics to provide up to 40% lower loss than conventional cables. Custom braids deliver superior mechanical strength and shielding greater than 90dB. Armoured cables are protected against kinking and bending beyond the minimum radius as well as mechanical shock.
